Senior Photo Style Guide Nature location: Take a look at your location and try to find an outfit that works well in the area. Your outfit should be comfortable and easy to move in, and it should also reflect your personality and normal style. Flowy outfits look great in a nature setting. Boots and sandals make navigating easy while allowing for a classy look. Simple patterns with colors that match the surrounding area can help keep your outfit from clashing. City location: If you end up taking your photos in a city location, you can still take the flowy outfit route, but the architectural setting allows you to choose a more moody or casual outfit. Heels or dress shoes are a fun way to elevate your outfit in this setting. Bright or dark non-neutral colors can help you stand out from the concrete backgrounds of the city. Whether or not to take the “traditional style” route: If you browse Pinterest or other seniors’ portraits, you might notice that they tend to have a similar style. This might include a white dress for more feminine outfits or a suit or nice button-up for more masculine outfits. While these are seen as traditional, they are not the only way to dress for your photos. Above everything else, it is important that you truly feel like yourself and are able to let your personality shine through! Accessories and Details: Make sure to bring your cap and gown and any honors and cords you have received. We want to make sure to celebrate your activities! Part of a club or sport? Bring something to commemorate it! For both high school and college seniors alike, consider bringing something that goes with your major! Jewelry and makeup that match your style or the style of the shoot can elevate your portraits. Extra things to think about: Bring a comb, brush, and a spray bottle to manage hair, especially for windy days! Make sure you have shoes that are easy to walk in. If you need, bring a second pair to walk from location to location. Jewelry, accessories, and makeup that matches your style or the style of the photo shoot can elevate your portraits. Bring a small makeup bag if you feel you'll need to touch it up during the session.
